Overview
- Hohonu is a Hawai'i-based climate resilience startup. We design, manufacture and deploy low-cost water level sensors and software. Hohonu sensors are deployed in 18 states and 3 countries to help coastal communities, cities, and infrastructure operators understand flooding in real time, plan better, and protect people and critical assets.
The Opportunity
- Hohonu is looking for a Hardware Technician to help manufacture and improve the sensing systems at the core of our flood intelligence platform
- This is a hands-on role where you will help design and build sensors for real-world applications
- If you are excited about developing solutions that help communities prepare and respond to flooding and disasters, this is a perfect role to make an impact
Responsibilities
- Assemble and test products, including water level sensors and custom mounting hardware
- Develop new test fixtures and equipment to improve production and quality assurance processes
- Manage 3D printers: maintenance, production, and post-processing of parts
- Manage and track inventory
- Work in CAD (Onshape) as needed to support minor design modifications and new fixtures
- Support ongoing process improvements and contribute to how the team iterates on assembly methods
Qualifications
- Comfortable working with your hands
- Detail-oriented, quality and consistency matter in every unit shipped
- Some CAD experience preferred
- Experience with design and fabrication; machine shop experience preferred
- Great for a mechanical engineering student, fabricator, recent graduate, or anyone with a general background in craft and building things
- Based in Honolulu and available for in-person hours
