- Job Title: Senior Civil Design Engineer
- Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 / year

The Opportunity
- AEP Hawaii is placing a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead complex projects across coastal systems, stormwater, roadway, and utility infrastructure for one of our established Hawaii engineering clients. This is a rare seat at a mission-driven local firm with deep Hawaii project experience and a growth pipeline across Oahu and the neighbor islands. Ideal for a senior designer ready to own whole-project design responsibility and mentor the next generation of Hawaii engineers.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead civil design for complex coastal, stormwater, and infrastructure projects from concept through construction administration.
- Design Ownership: Develop site plans, grading and drainage design, utility layouts, and permit packages that pass Hawaii review on first submittal.
- Permitting & Code: Navigate Hawaii state and county permitting (DPP, DOT-H, DOH, USACE where applicable) with confidence.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as technical lead in client meetings, community engagement, and agency review sessions.
- Construction Phase Services: Respond to RFIs, review submittals, conduct site observation visits, and resolve field issues.
- Mentorship: Coach EITs and junior designers on Hawaii-specific standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 8+ years of civil design experience with demonstrated project leadership.
- Hawaii PE license strongly preferred. EIT actively pursuing PE considered.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation proficiency. Hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar) a plus.
- Deep understanding of Hawaii stormwater, coastal, and grading requirements.
- Hawaii-based or willing to relocate. Kama'aina come-home strongly prioritized.
